Apple Silicon: Specs, features and when we expect to see the first Apple Silicon-powered Macs

The Apple Silicon platform was unveiled alongside the macOS Big Sur operating system at WWDC 2020 in June. The move to the company’s own silicon is the biggest change to the Mac line since the switch from PowerPC to Intel more than a decade ago.

According to Apple, the first Apple Silicon-powered Macs are due to arrive by the end of the year, with the transition expected to take two years in total. While this could be an iMac or a MacBook, a leaked roadmap suggests we could see the first 12-inch MacBook kitted with the silicon before the end of 2020.
