The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will be awarding $316 million in grants to support and modernize passenger ferry service. Grants will be awarded through three programs.
A total of $49 million will be awarded through the Electric or Low Emitting Ferry Program. The program helps transit agencies purchase vessels that reduce emissions through the use of alternative fuels or on-board energy storage systems.
A total of $51 million will be awarded through the Passenger Ferry Program. The program supports the purchase, replacement, or modernization of passenger ferries, terminals, and related equipment in urban areas.
