Can Collaborative Efforts Ensure Peace and Progress in Balochistan?

January 13, 2025

In the quest for peace and development in Balochistan, a significant peace jirga was held in the Sui area on Sunday, bringing together various stakeholders including Inspector-General of Frontier Constabulary (FC) North Major General Abid Mazhar, tribal elders, social workers, district administration representatives, and notable local figures. Participants wholeheartedly voiced their support for the security agencies’ efforts in maintaining law and order in the region. Major General Mazhar emphasized the fundamental responsibility of law enforcement in ensuring robust security and reaffirmed the FC’s steadfast commitment to enhancing healthcare and education in Balochistan.

This event follows a grand youth jirga organized by the Frontier Corps (North) in December 2024 aimed at fostering peace and prosperity in Dera Bugti and Sui. This gathering included representatives from various local organizations, reflecting an unprecedented level of community engagement. The discussions at these jirgas tackled critical issues affecting the region, such as law and order, education, health, water, gas supply, and unemployment. The recognition of the Baloch youth as pivotal to Pakistan’s future underscores the importance of a peaceful and prosperous Balochistan for the strength and stability of Pakistan.

The broad-ranging support captured at these jirgas is evidence of a consensus that collaborative efforts and active community involvement are crucial for Balochistan’s stability and development. The narrative underscores the significant role of the FC and local stakeholders in striving for improved security and socio-economic conditions in the region. This unified stance highlights the essential connection between peace and progress in Balochistan and the broader objective of a stable and prosperous Pakistan.
