Registering drones with the FAA should be easy and free, task force says

A government task force that is helping to plan a national drone registration system says the registration process should be simple and free, because onerous requirements could hinder the market for small unmanned aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration’s drone registration task force recommended a three-step registration process. “Any registration steps more burdensome than these three simple steps may jeopardize the likelihood of widespread adoption,” the task force said in its final report, dated November 21.

The FAA will take the recommendations under advisement before making a final decision.
