Twitter revokes intelligence community’s access to terror-spotting analytics service

Twitter on Sunday cut off U.S. intelligence agencies’ access to a third-party service that sifts through public Twitter feeds for its clients, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Since the Twitter data is public anyway, intelligence agencies will still be able to review its accounts the old fashioned way. The decision to bar the service, then, came not out of an attempt to keep analytics from intelligence agencies, but to avoid appearing associated with them.
